Recently, chairman Pan Jie of China Cre-Harmony Group, which is the strategic cooperation organization of Yan Baohang Social Welfare Foundation,  was invited to Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery to attend the Tombstone Unveiling Ceremony of Yan Baohang with more than 300 people from all walks of life in Beijing.

Guests attending the unveiling ceremony included Yan Mingguang who is the honorary director and CEO of Shanghai Yan Baohang Public Welfare Foundation, Chen yuan who is vice president of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC), Rong Keming who is the board president of Rong Investment, Major General Luo Ting and Luo Yuan, Doctor Huang Anming, professor Liu Yanshen, Andrey Denisov who is Russian Ambassador to China, and so on.

Chen Yuan

Chen Yuan is the eldest son of Chen Yun who was a late elder of Communist Party of China(CPC). Chen Yuan acts as the vice president of the 12th CPPCC, the former chairman of China Development Bank, and the Party secretary.

In the speech, Chen Yuan highly praised the outstanding contributions made by Yan Baohang in World Anti-fascism War and in the struggle for independence and liberation of Chinese people, hoping people don’t forget the unsung heroes of the hidden front.

Luo Yuan

Luo Yuan is the major general as well as the son of Luo Qingchang who is the former secretary-general of the State Council and the minister of CPC Investigation Department. He is also the member of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference(CPPCC), vice secretary-general of China Association for Military Science, and standing vice-president of China Strategic Culture Promotion Association. 

In the speech, Luo Yuan highly praised the hero who changed history, and described him as “a piece of paper which is worth a thousand gold and one person which is more than ten thousand enemies”. He said that Zhou Enlai, the CPC information undertaking’s founder and leader, had ever requested CPC intelligence agents to keep calm and take care of the overall situation when suffering from bitterness and anger. Yan Baohang truly did that through experiencing many a death without changing his original hear and enduring hardship without shaking his will.

Andrey Denisov, Russian ambassador to China, conveyed the great gratitude and respects of Russian leaders towards Yan Baohang, hoping the friendship between China and Russia to be carried forward in future generations.

Yan Mingguang, the daughter of Yan baohang, expressed her gratitude to people from all circles for their memory and admiration to her parents.

Yan Baohang’s life was secretive but great..

He was the best intelligence expert of international strategy in CPC intelligence front. Due to the special nature of his work, he had been struggling in invisible battlefront as a democrat and non-Party person. 

With excellent intelligence understanding, he obtained three pieces of intelligence which were universally recognized as the most valuable.

(1) Nazi Germany decided to attack Soviet Union on June 22, 1941.

(2) In late November of 1941, he gained intelligence that Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor.

(3) In the summer of 1944, he gained the whole materials from Japanese Kwantung Army in the northeast, including the deployment of land, navy and air forces, defense plan, fort location, corps, weapons, the number of translators, general names and so on. 

This kind of intelligence afford valuable assistance to Soviet Union for the Great Patriotic War, the Pacific War against Japan and America, and troops dispatch to the Northeast Revolutionary War in China. It is hard to imagine how many years the World Anti-fascism War would last and how many forcible family separations would happen if without Yan Baohang.

In 1962, Zhou Enlai had ever fully recognized Yan Baohang’s contribution to Chinese revolution and world revolution in his own handwriting.

“Your intelligence work contributes not only to Chinese revolution but also to world revolution”, Li Kenong, the head of CPC Intelligence Department, commented in terms of Yan Baohang’s fruitful intelligence work.

In 1995, when the 50^th anniversary of World Anti-fascism War arrived, a medal which was late for half a century finally arrived too. Russian President Ye Liqin signed an order that Yan Baohang and his intelligence officers including Yan Mingshi who was Yan Baohang’s eldest daughter and Li Zhengwen were respectively awarded the souvenir medal of the Great Patriotic War.

Even in war age, Yan Baohang never forgot common people.

At the age of 23 In 1918, Yan Baohang founded Fengtian Children School which provided poor family ‘s children with opportunity to go to school free of charge. Later, under the entrustment of Zhou Enlai and Li Kenong, Yan Baohang established underground intelligence institute “Yan’s Restaurant” in Chongqing, which always provided shelter for exile students, refugees and revolutionaries despite how difficult the situation was. Tao Xingzhi, Shen Junru, Gao Chongmin, Yu Yifu, Fan Changjiang and so on had ever been there.

In order to inherit and spread Yan Baohang’s spirit of treating people with sincere heart and taking pleasure in helping others, General Zhang Xueliang and Ning Encheng who were Yan Baohang’s good friend, Yanbaohang’s daughters and sons initiated and contributed money to establish Shanghai Yan Baohang Social Welfare Foundation. At the time, General Zhang Xueliang who had already been 90 years old not only sponsored funds, but also personally scribed the name of Foundation.

During the 26 years, Yan Mingguang, who is the youngest daughter of Yan baohang, has always been working for Chinese social welfare hither and thither. Although being over 90 years old, she has been working everywhere to provide an integrated service platform for the old age. Such effort and toil are heart-wrenching and respectable.

For the adorable elder, chairman Pan Jie affectionately called her “Yan Mama”,and said the thought and persistence of Yan Mama make me admire.
