On November 9, the wonderful shows in Guangzhou Design Night & Guangzhou Fashion Week continued to be presented in Canton Tower. The show of the day was “Tasting Tea While Jade Speaks” series presented by famous fashion modelling designer Xu Ming who is a Chinese living in France. Along with the sound of ancient music, sylphlike models with costumes slowly walked down the runway, just like being in the wonderland. The costumes full of Chinese elements and design taste won the spotlight and applause from the audience.

The show was a carefully choreographed show by Pan Jie, the presidium’s chairman of Global Original Design Alliance. She and designer Xu Ming have been friends for years. She met Xu Ming when seeing a show abroad, and realized both them held the same view on many thoughts, especially in aspect of promoting national costume. Therefore, she specially invited Xu Ming to bring her works to Guangzhou Fashion Week.

Pan Jie said Chinese 5000-year-long culture provides so many contents to present in fashion way, and the most representative culture of Chinese fashion was our 56 national costumes. However, our national essence was little known to the world because of the lack of a presentation platform to communicate with fashion circle in the world. She hoped there would be a platform where could exchange and transact global fashion resources, products, talents. She said, it was more importantly to enable national costumes which were truly representative to reach out to the world through the interaction between the platform and global fashion weeks.

As one of the initiator of Guangzhou Global Fashion Town which is being planned, Pan Jie said that Guangzhou is the largest provincial city of garment production and the largest garment circulation base in China. As China and world’s leading fashion industry cluster, Guangzhou shoulders the responsibility of industrial transformation and upgrading in Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area. The Fashion Town, which is planned to be invested 8 billion, offers soil for innovation and business start-up. It will be constructed as an incubation ground with high-efficient coordination in the overall process of design, procurement, production, sale, service and so on, which will foster the agglomeration and integration of design and innovative resources, promote the global fashion competitiveness of Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and speed the achievement of supercity with economic circle in Guangdong-Hongkong-Macau Greater Bay Area.

The national is the global. As President Xi mentioned, we must be confident in our culture, stick to the standpoint of Chinese culture, inherit Chinese culture genes, show Chinese aesthetic manners, renovate the expression means of elements, images and symbols in Chinese culture, so as to fully present the positive image of China to the whole world. We expect to see the 56 national costumes culture can bring more splendors to the fashion in the world.
